For nearly 14 years I have traveled the world working "hands on" with individuals, groups and teams of all ages and backgrounds. From young adults looking to transition in life, career and college, to the most seasoned business owner of successful restaurant chains. My coaching has been paramount with everyone and everything in between, throughout 11 countries. No matter what I have done in my life, coaching other people has always been a successful part of the agenda. I have been coached by the very best of mentors and can proudly say I have coached those who have made large footprints in a wide variety of fields.

Years ago, I started Attainment with a proven track record and continual mindset of helping people both personally and professionally. With an impeccable reputation, a strong work ethic passed down from both of my parents and the ability to effectively help those in need, my Coaching & Advising will continue to benefit for years to come. In early 2003, my father died very unexpectedly. He was a young 54 years of age. In September 2011 my mother passed away in a similiar manor respectively, at only age 61. Their guidance, support, love and teachings further illustrate my true passion to "give back" and help others. I miss them every single day, but draw strength from the strong roles they both played in my life. Using my personal experiences and coping skills when losing a loved one has played a large part of assisting clients in need of moving forward in their own life, while remembering those who have passed in a more healthy and positive way. Once again, " Successfully speaking from real life experience" applies.

Providing all of my clients a genuine opportunity to live a happier, healthier and productive lifestyle is critical. I have been spotlighted in multiple newspapers, appeared on T.V. stations, a featured speaker at corporate events, nationally recognized for Attainment's exclusive programs, my public services and solid ties to the Utah business community. I am even debuting my very own live radio show program in early 2012.

I take great pride in successfully practicing numerous aspects of  proper Life, Career & Business Management every day. My passion is to share not only my knowledge, but experiences that have taught me to live a better life. The basis of my teachings, effectively stem from my personal life, career and business experience over the course of many years. Setting attainable goals in a realistic timeframe will lead to more direction, balance and confidence in your daily life.

My clients can always expect nothing but the best from me, being "side by side" in the toughest situations. Accountability, Planning, Focus, Commitment and Follow Through are essential tools that must be put in place to make an effective life change. No matter my client load, location, age or situation, I have and always will be there when needed, 24/7.

Just like many other professions, being successful and achieving longevity in coaching must be based on more than just money, a whim or merely "thinking" that you have what it takes to actually help people and their situations. Attainment's client testimonials from around the world tell a humbling, detailed and motivating story of precisely what drives me to successfully do what I do every single day, in addition to being the key person that they and many others continually trust to help them in all life, career and business coaching avenues....

My beautiful wife Lindsie is a 3rd Grade School Teacher and currently working on her Masters Degree in Education. We have been together for 13 wonderful years.  My favorite diverse vacation spots are Monaco, Paris, Washington D.C. & West Yellowstone. I also enjoy playing weekly Ice Hockey competitively and various other sports. We reside in Murray, Utah with our 2 cats, Ruca & Smokey.

Finding your passion is the secret to keeping your New Year's resolutions, career life coach says

Lou DePasquale, a career life coach, helps people commit and follow through with life, career, relationship, finance, health wellness and business goals.

January 21, 2011 - SALT LAKE CITY - Once the holidays are over, people often feel guilty about over-indulging and resolve to diet and exercise, bike to work or take the stairs. They make resolutions about making more money or changing careers, but by February they feel bad because they've lost their motivation.

"It's easier if people will focus on one thing at a time because they are more likely to stick to it," said Lou DePasquale, founder of Attainment, a life, career and business coaching company.

"I help people obtain goals that range from time management to career changes," said DePasquale, a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Parish. "To succeed, people need to find their passion, set goals and develop a plan. It requires thinking a little deeper about what they really want. Self reflection helps them determine their passions and what motivates them."

The first of the year brings to mind changes people want to make and gives people an opportunity for a fresh start on things like getting out of debt, spending more time with the family, health concerns and changing careers," said DePasquale. "People are quick to set the bar too high with unrealistic goals. They can be more successful by setting short-term goals and a commitment that will help them follow through with their plan. Short-term is a slower pace, but easier to manage."

For example, DePasquale warns people against trying to focus on a career change and losing weight at the same time. "By focusing on one goal, a person can give that goal its proper attention," he said. "Also what works for one may not work for another and people have to keep that in mind when setting goals. People have to start somewhere so they have to know what works for them, evaluate their career flexibility and their time schedule."

Most people seek DePasquale's assistance for financial planning, relationship management, career changes and motivation, he said. "I help them understand the importance of a reasonable time frame and accountability."

Achieving goals is a process and people must respect that process, he said. "The average time it takes to see a change is six months although I've worked with people as long as two years. Change is difficult," DePasquale said. "It comes from within, but it has to be for the right reasons. Success does not usually happen when someone is changing for someone else."

People can set goals without a life coach, but it is necessary to develop a team or support group, he believes. "Joining a group gives people the support and encouragement they need to get on their feet," he said. "Finding someone with whom to exercise and finding something that is enjoyable increases one's success. Hiring a nutritionist, joining a diet program or finding like-minded people offers encouragement and accountability. I also do phone sessions to help people maintain their motivation."

DePasquale became a life coach as a result of working with his father in his drafting and engineering business. "I started working with my father when I was 15," he said. "It required a lot of traveling, and he taught me how to have a good work ethic and maintain a strong marital relationship while on the road. My father died when he was 54 of a sudden heart attack in 2003, and that put life into perspective for me. It helped me realize the connection between work, family, setting goals and life in general."

When Lou DePasquale dispenses advice, one thing’s for certain: He’s speaking from experience.

DePasquale used to travel the world, working as a professional mentor for a large coffee corporation. But, after eight years with the company, he was laid off in 2008 as a result of the economic downturn. “It was a real blow to lose that, because I worked so hard to climb the ladder,” he says. “But I knew if I just kept working hard and stuck with it, it wouldn’t all be lost.”

So, DePasquale started his own mentoring company, Attainment (AttainmentLife.com). “I decided I wanted to have a one-man show, and I was able to utilize my skills and my experiences from what I learned on the road for all those years,” he says.

Attainment focuses on mentoring people in three main areas: life, career and business. These can spin off into just about any topic, including marriage, grieving, finance and DePasquale’s new career-recovery program, which helps people gain interviewing skills and perfect their résumés to stand out from the crowd. “Coming full circle, I think it’s really important for people to have someone with them saying, ‘Hey, I’ve done this for years, let me help you,’” he says.

Though there were a few doubters when DePasquale decided to go it alone, he had the support of his family and, most importantly, faith in himself. “You come to the point where you just have to jump,” he says.

His strong work ethic came into play when he started seeking out his client base. He knew he had to be aggressive, so he utilized social media to reach out to those in need, all over the world. “You really have to find something that sets yourself apart,” he says. DePasquale tries to set himself apart through his willingness to be there whenever his clients need him—24 hours a day, seven days a week, through e-mail or over the phone. “People really think that the 9-to-5 mentality cuts it. And nowadays, I don’t think it does,” he says. “The continuous support, the genuine support, is something that people really need.”

DePasquale feels that if he keeps changing with the times and giving people what they want, he and those he helps have a bright future. “I’m always here to bounce ideas off and walk the path with you and really come up with new and effective ways to help you.

"Find your niche to succeed"

Life & Career Coach offers little, or big, help to people searching for a change

Lou DePasquale knows that in this economy, sometimes people only need a little help.

DePasquale is a life, career and business coach. He began his company, Attainment, after leaving a position as a corporate operations trainer.

He used to travel the country giving advice to entrepreneurs starting a franchise with his employer. In the same year the recession began, his father lost the family business he spent his life building, and then lost his life to heart failure.

The tragedies gave him perspective, DePasquale said, and motivated him to go into business for himself in order to share his life lessons with others.

There are many life coaches plying their trade in the recession, offering motivation and guidance to people in tough times. DePasquale said one thing setting him apart is his $99 Career Recovery Program.

The program offers resume advice, interview coaching, tips for job hunting and a few sessions of life coaching. Several hundred people have taken the offer, and DePasquale said its appeal is that sometimes people just need a little help.

"They're applying to Walmart just to get by, and they're competing with hundreds of people doing the same thing," he explained. "But the best starting point is to find a niche for that person."

Finding a niche is kind of theme for DePasquale's service. He spent years coaching people to succeed in a franchise, and now he helps them discover and define who they really want to be, he said.

"People let me know where they want to go and I can fill in the blanks."
